My girl is 5 months!

I cannot believe it... These 5 months have gone by so quickly and we are doing our best to keep up! I find it hard to believe it has already been 5 months and yet has only been 5 months... This is what she is up to and what we love about her:
1. Our sweet girl has changed us - for the better! Now, more than ever, we are a team. Whether we are giving Gray a bath or changing a funky diaper, we are in it together. Being a family of three has made life simpler and more complicated at the same time, but we are thankful for every minute we have!
2. She smacks her gums together like she is chewing now that she has a tooth. It is quite a site and every time she does this we crack up. It makes me excited to give her solids and see her reaction!
3. Gray loves her bath! She has started to splash and play with her toys when she is taking a bath. Just the other night, I was done giving Gray a bath, but she was apparently not done because she got upset when I took her out of the bath to dry her off. She was having so much fun that she was not ready to get out just yet!
4. She loves Bubba and Mia. She loves to watch them and often laughs at Mia when she barks and plays. I joke that Kevin is Gray's favorite person, but I actually think it might be Mia!
5. Gray is independent, but enjoys our company as well. I love that Gray can play on her own for as long as we let her, but she also really enjoys play time with us (especially her daddy).
6. She is observant. When we go to the park, she loves to just look around at her surroundings and just take it all in. It makes me wonder what she is thinking and I look forward to the day that she can tell me.
7. She loves to be cuddled and held and I hope she always does!
8. I love Gray's bedtime routine. We give her a bath and then dry off her sweet smelling head and between her rolls. Then we put her diaper and footed pajamas on her. I feed her, we read her a few stories, sing her a song and say a prayer. Next I kiss her head, tell her I love her and to have sweet dreams and she is usually asleep within a few minutes of being placed in her crib.
9. She has learned a new move. She flaps her arms up and down in excitement! It is really cute to see - especially the expression on her face!
10. I love that she still gets everything she needs from me. But, this is the last month before she starts solids. I have mixed emotions because on one hand, I cannot wait to give her new foods to try, but on the other hand it makes me sad that she will not need me as much as she does now. To me it is a big change and I will embrace it when the time comes, but I will enjoy these last few weeks I have before she graduates to the next phase of her life...
There is so much to look forward to, but I have really enjoyed these past 5 months more than I ever thought possible. As with all things, I will do my best to live in the moment and appreciate Gray in the present. But that doesn't mean I won't gaze longingly at her newborn pictures or anticipate her being able to have a conversation with me...

Gray has been teething for over 2 months and just today she cut her very first tooth! It is her bottom right tooth and we cannot wait to see her little grin once it is visible above her gum! I tried to take a picture of it, but these were all I could get...

Pointy Kitty
Who knew that being at home with Gray and living on a strict budget would bring out my creativity? From making clips (for Gray to wear... someday) to trying new recipes and now sewing. As a young girl, my mother tried to teach me how to sew, but I did not have the patience for it and she understandably did not have the patience for me. But, after giving sewing another chance, I have found that I really enjoy it!
My first sewing project was a '"capelet" for Gray to wear this fall/winter that turned out really cute. So, I decided to make one for my friend Rosa's little girl, Abby, who just tuned 1 month old this past week. Needless to say, they both need to grow a little before we can get a good picture of them wearing their "capelets" together.
Then with my fabulous, new sewing machine by my side, I tackled my second sewing project - a stuffed toy for Gray. I found the free pattern for this adorable "Pointy Kitty" on a website called WeeWonderfuls. Pictures of the finished product are below. I think it turned out pretty cute!

So, this is how I found Gray after waking up from her morning nap. The best part is the look on her face as if she has been caught doing something she shouldn't be. I never know where she is going to be when I go in to get her... Too funny!

So, I know I am a little behind, but our baby girl is 4 months old and bringing us so much joy! Here is why:
1. She wakes up in her crib and may fuss a bit to let us know she is awake, but as soon as one of us walks in she has the biggest smile on her face as if she misses us as much as we miss her when she sleeps. Plus, no baby has ever looked cuter than she does in footie pajamas! (Pictures below - there are a bunch because I had a hard time narrowing it down to my favorites!)
2. She puts a smile on the face of anybody and everybody she meets. Whether it is a complete stranger, family member or friend, they simply cannot resist responding to her with a grin or giggle. Her sweet disposition is contagious.
3. When she nurses, she like to stroke my face gently and smile at me. Sometimes I even "bite" her little fingers and she begins to giggle. I should really let Kevin feed her more often to experience this, but I guess I am a bit greedy.
4. She is reaching for and grabbing everything (including my hair). When she goes to sleep in her crib I usually wind up her musical giraffe and it plays a lullaby as she drifts off, but she is now reaching for the giraffe like she wants it to cuddle.
5. Gray is a BUSY girl! I am not sure how I will fare once she is crawling or walking, but I have already begun to brace myself. She was sitting in her Bumbo seat while I was cleaning out the pantry this weekend and the tea boxes I placed near her were quickly knocked to the floor along with the toys with which she was playing.
6. You never know just where she will be in her crib when you go in to get her. She rolls, twist scoots and it is always a surprise to find her facing the opposite direction from where she was laid down.
7. She is a daddy's girl. In her book, he can do no wrong. She laughs at him all the time and smiles whenever he comes near. I love to see them together - I melt. I always knew he would be a wonderful father, but I am afraid she is never going to be able to date, let alone get married someday!
8. She is a talker... Which can get looks from people when we are out and about, but at home we think it is just her way of expressing herself. Next lesson - volume control!
9. She is sitting up pretty well on her own. She is growing and changing so quickly, but we enjoy celebrating her milestones. At times, I long for my tiny newborn again, but I know that she is healthy and that I must soak in each moment that we spend together.
10. Her personality is coming out more and more each day. She is so much fun and we are so blessed to be her mommy and daddy.
