Happy Halloween!

A few weeks ago, we went to a local garden center to get some pictures of Gray in the pumpkin patch. Gray wore her sunflower Halloween costume {that I made} for the pictures. More Halloween pictures to come, but for now, enjoy these...

Half a year down… Gray is 6 months old!

>> Wednesday, October 27, 2010

I can hardly believe it, but here is what she is up to:

-She is "crawling" everywhere! I say crawling because it is a crawl, just not your traditional method. She does more of an army crawl on her belly, but she really gets around. She gets up on her knees, but when it is time to move, she flattens out and pushes with her feet. I will get a video of this to post soon!

-Gray is eating some solids. She has tried rice cereal, oatmeal, multi grain cereal, sweet potatoes, avocado, pear, carrots, baby mum mum rice husks and organic puffs. Out of all of these foods it is hard to say which one(s) are her favorite because she is not all that excited about any of them. If you can get a spoonful of food in her mouth, she then proceeds to shudder (just like her daddy) and make a gagging sound like if it some form of torture. I don't think she minds the flavor of the foods, but the texture seems to be throwing her off. Hopefully she will get the hang of it soon!

-She is a talker. Whether we are at the grocery store, home, a restaurant or just running errands, she gets some looks. My child is that child that is talking loudly - not upset or screaming, just talking away. I personally think it is adorable, but I am sure that some do not share my same opinion… oh well!

-Her hair is really coming in and it look like it may be {dare I say it} blond. I am so excited for Gray to not only have some hair so that I put clips in it, but I am also excited that she may have an ever so slight resemblance to me! Yea!

- Gray has been sleeping through the night for a while now. She goes to bed around 7:30/8:00 and sleeps until 6:30/7:00. And she typically goes down without a fuss and wakes up full of smiles. Lucky us!

-At Gray's 6 month appointment, she weighed 14.6 pounds (25th percentile) and was 25.5 inches long (75th percentile). She still fits in to most of her 3-6 month clothes, but since it is getting cooler, does not wear most of them anymore, except for the pajamas. It has been so much fun dressing her in all of her fall/winter wardrobe. Have I mentioned that I love having a girl?

-She is such a happy girl. She loves to smile, laugh, hug and play. We know that we are blessed beyond belief to not only have Gray in our lives, but to also be able to spend so much time with her.

-Gray's favorite toys are simple items, like balls, stuffed toys and anything else she can pat her hands on to make music (noise). She love to pick up one of her balls and tap in on the table, TV stand, another ball and anything else she can find. I am already busy shopping for her for Christmas, but I plan to keep it simple with some blocks, stacking cups, a shape sorter, sensory balls, a doll and a book of nursery rhymes.

-She makes a kissing sound. When Kevin or I call the dogs by making the sound, Gray mimics us. Now if only we could get her to blow kisses… : )

-Gray is VERY active. Whether she is reaching for somethings at the grocery store, twisting around in my arms to look around her or on the move, she is in constant motion. She like to sit in my lap facing me and pull up on m shoulders. I just know before long, I am going to spend all day keeping up with her. Babyproofing is in my near future.

I cannot wait to see what the other half of this incredible year has in store for us all!

Kevin hung Gray's swing last week in celebration of the slightly cooler temperature. She loves spending time outside and seems to really like her new swing. Daddy takes such good care of his girls!
